Biography

 Muhammad Farooq Sabir got his B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, N.W.F.P in May 1999. He worked with Data Communications and Controls (Pvt) Ltd., Pakistan, for about ten months before coming to the United States in August 2000. He completed his Master's in Electrical engineering as a Telecommunications and Information Systems Engineering major in May 2002, under the supervison of Dr. Al Bovik. He completed his Ph.D. degree in May 2006 and was jointly supervised by Prof. Bovik and Prof. Heath. His doctoral dissertation investigated distortion models for joint source-channel coding of images and video for communication over a wireless channel.

He is currently a Software Development Engineer for Audio, Image and Video Processing at K-Will Corporation in Los Angeles, CA. His research interests include wireless video communications, joint source-channel, MIMO systems and Space time codes.
