Biography
Zhou Wang joined the Lab for Image and Video Engineering in 1998 and completed his PhD degree in 2001. Before that, he was educated at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, and South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. He had been a research assistant in LIVE from 1998 to 2001. He worked as a research and teaching assistant in periods during 1996 to 1998 at Dept. of CS, City Univ. of Hong Kong, China. In the summers of 2000 and 2001, he worked for Multimedia Technologies, IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY. He was with AutoQuant Imaging, Inc., Watervliet, NY in 2002.. Dr. Wang held a post-doctoral position at the Laboratory for Computational Vision under Prof. Eero Simoncelli at New York University, NY from Sept. 2002 to Dec. 2004. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Univesity of Waterloo, Canada.
Zhou does not have a fixed list of research interests. An incomplete list as exemplified by his publications is: image and video processing, quality assessment, coding and communication; computational aspects of visual perception; signal processing; computer vision; pattern recognition; wavelets; fractals; fuzzy techniques; and artificial neural networks.
