Biography

 Abtine Tavassoli came to the University of Texas in August 2000 as an exchange student from Polytech'Lille, France (formerly called EUDIL). He received his Diplôme d'Ingénieur from Polytech’Lille in May 2001. He was a research assistant from January 2001 to May 2002 in the area of optical signal processing in Dr. Michael F. Becker's lab, where he worked on photorefractive optical correlators applied to the detection of frequency shifted signals. Since June 2002, he was a member Dr. Alan C. Bovik's lab, the Laboratory for Image and Video Engineering. He received his MS degree in May 2002 from the UT Austin. He received his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Austin in December, 2007.

Abtine is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the University of California, Los Angeles. He works with Prof. Dario Ringach in the UCLA Department of Psychology.
